We are very excited to welcome the Julian Siegel Quartet to Highams Park Jazz Club for their debut appearance at the club on Saturday, 21 November.

Recognised as one of the UK’s leading contemporary jazz ensembles, the Julian Siegel Quartet has earned widespread acclaim for its imaginative compositions, exceptional musicianship and compelling live performances. We are delighted to present this outstanding quartet as part of our monthly concert season.

Julian Siegel is one of Britain’s most respected saxophonists, composers and bandleaders. A BBC Jazz Award winner for Best Instrumentalist, Julian has performed and recorded with many of the world’s leading jazz musicians, including Kenny Wheeler, Django Bates, Hermeto Pascoal, Bill Frisell, Andrew Hill and Steve Swallow. His own quartet has received critical acclaim for its originality, adventurous spirit and remarkable interplay, establishing itself as one of the UK’s finest jazz groups.

For this special evening, Julian is joined by three of the UK’s most accomplished and creative musicians.

Liam Noble – piano
One of Britain’s most original jazz pianists, Liam Noble is renowned for his adventurous improvisation, harmonic imagination and distinctive musical voice. His long and distinguished career has seen him perform with many of Europe’s leading jazz artists, earning a reputation as one of the most inventive pianists on the contemporary jazz scene.

Oli Hayhurst – double bass
A highly respected bassist, Oli Hayhurst is admired for his rich tone, melodic playing and sensitive musicianship. He has performed extensively throughout the UK and Europe with many of Britain’s leading jazz musicians and has been an integral member of the Julian Siegel Quartet for many years.

Gene Calderazzo – drums
One of Europe’s leading jazz drummers, Gene Calderazzo is celebrated for his dynamic playing, rhythmic creativity and exceptional versatility. A long-time collaborator with Julian Siegel, he has performed with an impressive range of international artists and is widely regarded as one of the finest drummers on the British jazz scene.

Together, Julian Siegel, Liam Noble, Oli Hayhurst and Gene Calderazzo combine outstanding technical mastery with fearless improvisation and beautifully crafted compositions. Their performances are renowned for their energy, lyricism and remarkable musical interaction, promising an unforgettable evening of world-class contemporary jazz at Highams Park Jazz Club.
