Saturday04October
Pianist and composer Kate Williams has long been known for a voice that is unmistakably her own—an artistry that blends inventive writing with heartfelt performance. On 4th October, her quartet brings this distinctive sound to Highams Park Jazz Club for an evening of rich, lyrical jazz.
Joining Kate on piano are Colin Oxley on guitar, Dave Whitford on double bass, and David Ingamells on drums—four musicians in perfect sync, shaping music that moves with subtlety and fire. Together, they will present a varied set that includes beautiful tunes by Emily Remler, Bill Evans, and Antonio Carlos Jobim, alongside fresh arrangements crafted by Kate herself.
Kate’s journey has been marked by critically acclaimed albums, from Made Up and Atlas And Vulcana to Smoke And Mirrors, a collaboration with the late tenor legend Bobby Wellins. In 2016 she formed Four Plus Three, blending her trio with a string quartet, a project that led to memorable performances with special guest John Williams—her father—on guitar. Their album with vocalist Georgia Mancio, Finding Home: Kate Williams’ Four Plus Three Meets Georgia Mancio, won Album of the Year at the 2020 Parliamentary Jazz Awards.
Expect an evening of music that is both crisp and incisive, full of rhythmic ebb and flow, where each note is shaped with care and passion. This is jazz as a living conversation, inviting listeners into a world of melody, texture, and feeling.
Tickets are available now. Early booking is recommended to be part of this special night.
