Mark Lockheart / Chris Batchelor Quartet

We’re delighted to welcome the Mark Lockheart / Chris Batchelor Quartet to Highams Park Jazz Club for the very first time. The band brings together four exceptional musicians: Mark Lockheart on saxophones and clarinets, Chris Batchelor on trumpet, Huw V Williams on bass, and Jay Davis on drums.

Lockheart and Batchelor are two of the most distinctive voices in British jazz. Long-time collaborators through their work with Loose Tubes and Django Bates, they’ve each carved out their own paths as bandleaders and composers, fronting projects such as Shapeshifter and Zoetic. Together, they lead this outstanding quartet in a set that blends much-loved jazz standards with original pieces from both musicians.

Between them, the members of the group have played and recorded with some of the greats — including Kenny Wheeler, Norma Winstone, Bobby Wellins, Dave Liebman, Michael Brecker, Sam Rivers and Hermeto Pascoal. It promises to be an inspiring evening of top-class jazz from four of the UK’s finest players.

Buses and trains:
We are a four-minute walk from Highams Park overground station, which is on the Liverpool Street to Chingford line. We are also two overground stops from Walthamstow Central underground station at the end of the Victoria line. Alternatively, the 275, 212 & W16 bus routes will bring you within a short walk of All Saints church. If you are coming by car, there is plenty of free available parking and no restrictions after 6 p.m. on single yellow line from Monday to Saturday, and all day on Sunday.
