Band Bio: Testaments
Testaments, a contemporary jazz ensemble based in London, was conceived by bassist and songwriter Mark McQuillan. Known for their innovative soundscapes and deeply emotive performances, the group features some of the UK’s brightest young improvisors, including Rebecka Edlund (vocals), Cameron Scott (euphonium), Dom Howard (guitar), and Sam Nicholls (drums). Testaments craft a dynamic journey of ethereal beauty and intense drama, seamlessly blending McQuillan’s evocative compositions with each member’s unique voice. With a foundation in thematic clarity and improvisational exploration, their music resonates with moments of heartfelt intimacy and timeless elegance.

Mark McQuillan (Bassist, Songwriter, and Lyricist)
Mark McQuillan combines romantic lyricism with intricate compositions that inspire sweeping and ethereal performances. A versatile bassist, Mark has performed at prominent venues like Vortex Jazz Club and London Jazz Festival and collaborated with groups such as Loz Speyer’s Time Zone and Asha Parkinson’s Kalpadruma. His recent highlights include a John Coltrane tribute and a performance with composer Bob Chilcott.
Rebecka Edlund (Vocals)
Swedish vocalist Rebecka Edlund blends jazz and Scandinavian folk influences with storytelling and improvisation. Her debut album, Något om en björk (2022), was lauded as one of the year’s best folk jazz records by Lira Music Magazine. Rebecka curates The Downstairs Living Room at Vortex Jazz Club and collaborates with artists such as Laura Jurd and Huw Warren.
Cameron Scott (Euphonium)
Cameron Scott is a jazz trombonist and euphoniumist with a flair for composition and orchestration. Winner of the Trinity Laban Gold Medal showcase in 2024, Cameron has performed with notable ensembles like Laura Jurd’s Stepping Back, Jumping In and Tom Challenger’s Brass Mask. His projects, including tributes to Bheki Mseleku, highlight his innovative leadership in the jazz community.
Dom Howard (Guitar)
Dom Howard’s guitar work merges jazz, post-rock, prog metal, and classical influences, creating textured soundscapes that elevate melodies. A student at the Royal Academy of Music, Dom has performed across the UK, and his recent single, Tidal Dance, showcases his ability to craft intricate sonic worlds.
Sam Nicholls (Drums)
Sam Nicholls is an imaginative and versatile drummer whose artistry speaks through his instrument. With collaborations spanning jazz and experimental rock, Sam has performed with luminaries like Cameron Scott, Hans Koller, and the experimental outfit everett, earning recognition as one of the UK’s most exciting young drummers.
