Tim Lapthorn Trio

We are thrilled to announce the upcoming performance of the exceptional and highly esteemed British jazz pianist, Tim Lapthorn, along with his talented trio at the Highams Park Jazz Club on Saturday night, 11th May. Tim Lapthorn, an award-winning pianist and composer, boasts an impressive musical career, having recorded four albums and toured globally under his own name. His performances have graced renowned venues such as Copenhagen’s JazzHouse, Budapest Jazz Club, and, of course, London’s iconic Ronnie Scott’s.

In addition to his solo career, Lapthorn has collaborated with some of the world’s finest musicians, including Branford Marsalis, Chris Potter, and Ron Carter. Notably, he has shared his expertise through teaching and conducting masterclasses, including at the prestigious Cambridge University. Lapthorn’s distinctive musical style, characterised by its lyrical, quirky, and harmonically adventurous elements, has garnered widespread critical acclaim.

As a testament to his artistry, Lapthorn’s debut album has been described as a “marvellous first statement” by the Penguin Guide to Jazz on CD, while Mojo applauds his ability to blend “witty invention with deep swing and unerring reassuring balance.” Jazzwise further lauds Lapthorn’s work, deeming it a “beautifully executed disc.”
